The WestBean Coffee Roasters

San Diego, CA

A cup of coffee is beautiful in its simplicity. However the process from seed to cup is far from simple. It's an unbelievable result stemming from growing, farming, processing & sorting the fruit. Every step of the process will influence the end taste. By respecting the overall process and how the green coffee made it into our hands, we make it our responsibility to explore each varietal by diving deeper and deeper into the intricacies of the roasting process. It is only when the coffee is skillfully roasted, that it has a chance to be prepared at the highest level, crafting a great cup. To us a cup of black coffee is colorful and complex in its own way. At the WestBean we let our craft speak for itself.

Coffee cherry tea, also known as "cascara," meaning "husk" in Spanish, is an herbal tea made from the dried berries (or "cherries") of the coffee plant. Cascara , because it is from the skin and pulp of the cherry berry, is filled with a high concentration of natural sugars, oils, vitamins and antioxidants. Our cascara has a big strawberry jam-like flavor and sweet finish.

How to brew Cascara:

Hot Brew: Heat water to roughly 200°F. Use 15-17g (3 tablespoons) of tea to 300g (10oz.) of water. Pour heated water over tea and let stand for 4 minutes. Strain, sip slowly, and enjoy!

Cold Brew: Use 32-35g (6 heaping tablespoons) of tea to 300g (10oz.) of cold water. Place tea in water and let stand in fridge for 24 hours. Strain, sip slowly, and enjoy!
